Elisabeth has been cleaning the streets of Norbury for over 2 months. As a street cleaner with Litter Free Norbury she is aware of a very big issue in society: Rubbish on our streets. Listen to this professional.

LFN interviewer: Hi Elisabeth, thank you for taking the time to join us today. We appreciate your presence and your willingness to share your experiences as a street cleaner in Norbury.

Elisabeth: Thank you for inviting me. I'm happy to be here and shed some light on my role and the importance of maintaining a clean and litter-free environment in Norbury.

LFN interviewer: Could you tell us a bit about yourself, Elisabeth? How did you become a street cleaner in Norbury, and what motivates you in your work?

Elisabeth: Well, as a single mum, I was looking for a job that would fit well with my daughters' schedules. That's when a friend told me about the opportunity to become a street cleaner in Norbury. What motivates me the most in my work is the sense of freedom it gives me. I want the entire Norbury community, including my daughters, to experience that freedom too. Seeing clean streets and normalising cleanliness among young people is what keeps me going.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

LFN interviewer: What are your main responsibilities as a street cleaner in Norbury?

Elisabeth: My main responsibility is to keep the streets clean. I always try my best to collect as much rubbish as possible and maintain the cleanliness of the neighbourhood.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

LFN interviewer: How do you believe your work as a street cleaner contributes to creating a cleaner and more pleasant environment in Norbury?

Elisabeth: I believe that my work, along with the initiative of Litter Free Norbury, has made a significant impact on the community. Norbury's streets needed someone to step up, and together, we're making a difference.

LFN interviewer: Have you noticed any positive changes in the community since you started working as a street cleaner?

Elisabeth: Absolutely! The reports submitted through the "Love Street Cleaner" app have been very helpful, and I have personally noticed a positive change in my daily interactions with the community. People are becoming more conscious about cleanliness, and it's making a difference.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

LFN interviewer: What message would you like to convey to the residents of Norbury regarding the importance of avoiding litter and maintaining a clean environment?

Elisabeth: More than a message, I believe it's important for everyone to be aware that clean streets in our neighbourhood are crucial for our children's future and our own well-being. As a mother, I want to set an example for my daughters and for the next generation. If we all prioritise cleanliness, Norbury, and even London as a whole, will never have to deal with litter problems again!

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

LFN interviewer: What kind of interactions do you have with the residents of Norbury in your daily work? Do you receive any support or recognition from the community?

Elisabeth: I have regular interactions with the residents of Norbury during my work. Many neighbours stop me to ask about the charity I'm associated with and the nature of my job. I take the opportunity to inform them about our organisation and hand out flyers to spread awareness. I also receive support and appreciation from the community. Norbury truly feels like a united and caring community.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

LFN interviewer: Have you had any memorable or inspiring experiences while working as a street cleaner?

Elisabeth: Yes, there was one memorable incident. I was cleaning outside a bar on London Road, and the owner came out and offered me a drink. It was a small gesture, but it made me feel appreciated and valued for the work I do.

LFN interviewer: Is there any message you would like to convey to the Norbury community on this occasion?

Elisabeth: I would like to ask people to be more conscious of the litter problem in Norbury, especially during weekends and as the weather gets better. It's important to recognize and appreciate the hard work of street cleaners. If everyone becomes aware of this, Norbury, and even London, can overcome the issue of litter once and for all!

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

LFN interviewer: Thank you, Elisabeth, for being such a dedicated street cleaner in Norbury. Your passion and commitment are truly inspiring. Let's join hands with Elisabeth and work towards creating a litter-free environment, where cleanliness and pride go hand in hand.
